Stephen McManus has played his last game for Championship strugglers Bristol City.

The Scotland international centre-back today returned to parent club Middlesbrough at the end of his three-month loan spell and new Robins head coach Sean O'Driscoll has no plans to bring him back to Ashton Gate.

As McManus was heading back to the Riverside, so Frank Feltscher was off to pastures new after an unsuccessful trial spell in Bristol.

The Grasshoppers playmaker continued to train with City on Tuesday and Wednesday, only to be told by O'Driscoll there would be no deal for him in BS3.

But defenders Mark Wilson and Matthew Bates both took part in training at Failand this morning. Both are out of contract this week and O'Driscoll wants more time before making a final decision on the pair.

“Won't be missed and no better that Fontaine & Nyatanga (when in form) who are both not good enough for the NPC.

Hopefully SD has his targets picked out and I expect loans as opposed to perm due to uncertainty over the division we're in next season.”

“Seems that the choices are 2 from Fontaine, Carey, Wilson and Nyatanga.-Bates being unfit-

Personally, would only play Carey-but we need two!-
This area does need strengthenig PDQ- McFadzean is not the immediate answer either due to fitness- I'm guessing that SO'D has something being worked on in the background.”

“Very concerned with Steve's return as we have not found those 2 Central Defenders and will be torn apart by Leeds if the match goes ahead on Saturday!

We need a defence of steel and as many who can defend in the side.”
