Station car parks targeted
THREE men have been arrested following an operation by British Transport Police (BTP) to target vehicle crime at Bristol Parkway train station.
The station's car park has been hit by a recent spate of overnight thefts from cars.
Between May 27 and May 28, 14 cars were found to have had their windows smashed by offenders looking for high-value goods which may have been left inside.
But on Wednesday night BTP officers stepped up patrols and shortly after 1.30am on Thursday morning , they saw three men who had entered the car park through bushes, acting suspiciously.
They were arrested after a short chase and a number of vehicles were found to have been broken into.
All three, a 16-year-old youth and two men aged 19 and 20, all from Bristol, were arrested on suspicion of theft.
A BTP spokesman said: "BTP takes motor vehicle crime seriously. Our message to commuters is to remove valuables like mobile phones, sat-nav devices and CDs from the vehicle, and remember to wipe any sat-nav sucker marks from the windscreen as offenders may hope the device has been hidden."
Anyone with any information should call BTP on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
