Acting Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick said their rout of Gloucestershire was ideal preparation for their Twenty20 Cup semi-final against Kent at Edgbaston tomorrow.

Trescothick said: "Bristol has been a tough place for us to come to and they usually give us a good game, so this sets us up really well for Saturday.

"However, we can't just rely on what we have done today. We have to keep working hard."

Trescothick saluted his frontline bowlers, Alfonso Thomas, Ben Phillips and Mark Turner, who snaffled the ten Gloucestershire wickets between them.

"We were brilliant from the start," Trescothick added.

"Two wickets in the first over is brilliant for the captain.

"There was something in the pitch for the new-ball bowlers and we held our catches.

"I wanted to get Pete Trego and Zander de Bruyn on, but it seemed easier for the slightly slower pace, so we went for the kill."

Trescothick has rarely batted any better than his current run of form.

He continued: "It came out of the screws for me and it is nice to really go out and enjoy yourself."
