Staines Town 1 Bath City 1: An Andre Scarlett free-kick 15 minutes from time denied Bath City an away win last night.

Kaid Mohamed had given Bath the lead on 65 minutes.

It was a tired-looking City side that took to the pitch at Wheatsheaf Lane after their exertions at Grimsby Town on Saturday.

Staines, meanwhile, had the luxury of making five changes to their line-up. For City, missing leading goal-scorer Darren Edwards through injury, it was a backs-to-the-wall first half, with Ryan Robinson being forced into early saves from Staines' Ali Chaaban and Dean Thomas.

Chaaban then twice more went close, once from a free-kick just before the half-hour mark and then eight minutes later, when he put another free-kick a yard over Robinson's goal.

At the start of the second period, Bath enjoyed their best spell. They were rewarded on 65 minutes when a Lewis Hogg free-kick was headed back across goal for Mohamed to stab home from close range.

City's lead lasted just 10 minutes. Sido Jombarti fouled Scarlett just outside the City 18-yard box and the Staines man got up to fire the resulting free-kick through the wall and into the net to earn his side a point.
