Sport is at the heart of Bristol's local newspaper
Like most newspapers in the UK, the back pages are as much a draw for the reader as the front. And the Post is no exception.
With two rival football teams in Bristol, both Rovers and City fans turn to our pages to find out the latest about what is going on at their clubs.
No other local media has the contacts and day-to-day relationship with the managers and players at the two clubs that the Post has.
We are there at the training grounds throughout the week and at matchdays at the weekend.
Sixteen pages of local sport are produced over a weekend with dozens of staff and freelance writers at games across the region all collated on Sunday to produce The Green 'Un.
But grass roots football is where the Post really scores.
Every week throughout the football season we have two separate eight-page supplements rounding up the previous weekend's Saturday and Sunday football action. On Tuesdays there is On Me 'ead, Son a comprehensive look at all the adult non-league games which have taken place in and around Bristol. While on Wednesday, Kick It covers all the junior football in our area.
With rugby playing a big part in the city's sporting tradition, Bristol Rugby doesn't go uncovered with reporters again attending the training ground and matchdays.
And the local rugby scene gets its fair share of coverage in our pages too.
It's not just football and rugby though, the Post has blanket coverage of both Gloucestershire and Somerset cricket.
But once again it is at the grass roots level where we knock the opposition for six.
Two pages of local cricket are produced on a Friday looking forward to the weekend's games with a further four pages dedicated to results and tables on Monday.
While on Tuesday the Post is responsible for choosing the Top 15 batsmen and bowling performances of the weekend.
Every day the Post prints two pages of racing cards with tips and stories about the horses in form – and out of it.
While minority sports such as angling, athletics, bowls, skittles and even billiards find a home in the Post sport pages.
