Blakemore backs Mogg in Yate's battle against relegation
Striker Aaron Blakemore has pledged his full support to caretaker manager Dave Mogg in the club's fight against relegation.
Blakemore had appeared to be on the way out of Lodge Road with Weston-super-Mare still interested in signing him, but following talks with Mogg he is staying put.
"Aaron has said he will stay at Yate until the end of the season," said Mogg.
"I have told Aaron he has a lot of talent and I rate him, but he does bring baggage with him. But I don't see why Weston should benefit from him and not us and I want him scoring goals for us."
Blakemore scored for Yate in last week's GFA Cup match against Bristol Rovers but was kept on the bench for the 1-0 win at Brackley and Tuesday's home defeat by Corby Town.
Blakemore may well start Saturday's match at home to Halesowen Town with Dean Griffiths struggling with a hamstring injury, while Scott Brice is still suspended.
With Halesowen fifth, Yate will start underdogs but their recent two wins against Brackley and Bedford have given Mogg cause for optimism.
A 3-0 defeat at Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday night was another setback for Mangotsfield United's survival campaign but manager Phil Bater refuses to blame his players.
"We have shown that we are no pushovers, but we are just not strong enough to compete with the better teams," said Bater.
Neil Arndale returns to the squad for Saturday's match at play-off hopefuls Stourbridge but striker Mitchell Page starts a four-game ban after his recent red card against Gloucester City.
"Mitchell has been a top man for us so we will really miss him," said Bater.
Clevedon Town stretched their unbeaten run to three games with Tuesday's 2-2 draw at home to Brackley but manager Nick Tucker knows it is victories they need to get off the bottom of the Premier Division.
Saturday's visit of Bedford is followed by another home clash against Rugby Town next Saturday and Tucker knows his side need six points to have any chance of beating the drop.
Chris Collins is still struggling with injury and Dale Peckham begins a suspension after his red card at Cambridge.
With a place in the final of the Somerset Premier Cup secured, Paulton Rovers manager Andrew Jones can focus all his energies on his other priority for the season.
"The aim was to reach the final of the cup and win it for the first time and also make the play-offs," he said. Currently lying eight, Paulton travel to ninth-placed Beaconsfield with a full-strength squad apart from from injured Dave Burborough.
