A NEW fund has been set up to make roads safer - using fees paid by speeding drivers.

The Road Safety Fund is administered by the Avon and Somerset Police Community Trust. It aims to help reduce accidents by improving education and training for children, learners and inexperienced drivers.

The fund was set up from a proportion of the £80 fee paid by each driver who attends a speed awareness course after being caught breaking the limit. Fees also help cover the costs of the police speed enforcement unit.
