Spanx To Open Chain of Boutiques

Spanx have been hiding our lumps and bumps for over a decade now. Spanx shapewear is there for us when we need to squeeze into the most revealing of dresses, when our bellies are bloated, or when we just need a bit of a confidence boost. However, Spanx products have always been sold by other retailers, in department stores, boutiques, and online, rather than in speciality Spanx shops. That is, until now.
The shapewear giant, founded by Sara Blakeley, is set to open its first set of standalone retail stores. A spokeswoman for the brand recently announced that the three shops were set to open in the October of this year, and would be located in three main shopping malls in the United States.
The spokeswomen didn’t give very much away, but although little has been announced in the way of detail, it is rumoured that the standalone shops would be stocking both women’s and men’s shapewear. Great news for Robert Pattinson, who recently joked about wearing Spanx shapewear whilst chatting to American chat show host, Jon Stewart, whilst eating a tub of ice cream.
This move into standalone stores is quite a change for Sara Blakeley, who earned the title of youngest self-made billionaire when she started the Spanx revolution when she found a simple yet effective solution for making her favourite outfits look bump free. Infamously, Sara has never had anybody other than herself invest in the company, and she never advertises. Hardly necessary, when you have a legion of celebrities singing your products praises after every red carpet event. This move into standalone stores is a little more traditional for the 41 year old, who has managed to the run Spanx for 12 years without the company ever being in debt.
Unfortunately for the United Kingdom, the Spanx stores are only set to open in the States for the foreseeable future. Luckily, there are boutiques like The Editeur in Chester that stock a huge variety of Spanx products, as well as a great selection of other designer lingerie brands such as Wolford, tella McCartney Underwear, Elle Macpherson Intimates and Calvin Klein lingerie. The Editeur are extremely excited to see what the Spanx shops and they have high hopes that they will be a great success.
