Southville Primary School marks 100th birthday
Staff and pupils at Southville Primary School donned Edwardian costumes to mark the school's centenary.
The school in Merrywood Road was opened by the city's Lord Mayor on December 15, 1908.
And the current Lord Mayor Chris Davies was on hand 100 years later to join the celebrations.
Sandie Smith – the 11th and current head teacher – said a series of events was taking place throughout the academic year to mark the anniversary.
These included a reunion event and an exhibition on the history of the school, including old photos of the grounds, pupils and old textbooks.
Southville primary's Grade II-listed building was designed by Henry Dare Bryan, and cost £7,205 to build.
