Southampton too strong for Bristol City reserves

​Ivan Sproule and fellow first-team regulars Liam Fontaine, Lee Johnson and Gavin Williams all completed the 90 minutes of Bristol City Reserves' 2-1 defeat against their Southampton counterparts.

Midfielder Williams gave Bristol City the lead at Southampton's Staplewood training ground with a deflected long-range effort but former Reading defender Graeme Murty equalised before half-time.

The Saints got the winner after the break through youngster Matthew Paterson.

Bristol City Reserves: Henderson; Ball, Fontaine, Edwards, Kington; Sayce, Johnson, Williams; Sproule, Clarkson, Jackson.

Saints Res: Bialkowski, Murty (Argent 59), Martin, Saville, Molyneux (Preen 67), Mellis, Wotton, Gobern, Holmes, Paterson, Saganowski.
