Somerset keep title bid alive as Max holds on for vital half
Saltford's Max Brittan won a vital half-point in the final match to help Somerset defeat champions Devon 8-7 at Churston, which keeps his county's Channel League title hopes alive.
Brittan tied former Devon County Champion Damion Gee after the home side threatened to run away with the match after taking a 4-1 foursomes lead.

Laurie Canter (Saltford), who was the only foursomes winner with Charlie Cossins (Bath), led the fightback with a stunning 4 and 3 win over England player Billy Hemstock in the opening singles.
Cossins, Curtis Edwards (Saltford), Phil White (Wells), David Gregory (Burnham) and Matt Kippen (Enmore Park) also won, while Matt Lea (Saltford) halved as Somerset took the singles 7-3.
Captain Steve Haines (Burnham) has made one change for the key match against leaders Cornwall at Mendip on Sunday with Craig Adams (Farrington) replacing Cook.
● England stars Chris Lloyd (The Kendleshire) and Adam Carson (Long Ashton) head Gloucestershire's challenge at the South West Boys Championship and EGU qualifier at Woodbury Park, Devon, next week.

● Bristol & Clifton's Sian James, and three other Birmingham University golfers, made history by becoming the first women's only team to become World Student Matchplay Champions.
The undergraduates on the PGA/University of Birmingham honours degree in applied golf management, beat 26 men's and mixed university teams from across the world in Munich.
● Former county player and golf equipment salesman James Webber linked up with his Bristol & Clifton colleague Andy Rudge to win the Gloucestershire Foursomes Championship for the first time at The Kendleshire.
They followed a below-average 75 with a cracking 69 to ease out the greenkeeper pairing of Paul Jenkins (Kendleshire) and Paul Garland (Lansdown) by one shot, with Dave Butler and Sam Morgan (Bristol & Clifton) third (76, 73).
Shaun Thornhill (Broadway) and Carl Gyde (Painswick) won the net prize from Nathan Rogers and Chris Evans (Kendleshire), who beat Ed Clark and Phil Graham (Minchinhampton) on countback.
● Woodspring are home to Filton in the second round of the Gloucestershire President's Cup.
