Somerset sign South African star Francois du Plessis
Somerset have signed South African batsman Francois du Plessis as a replacement for Chris Gayle, the club confirmed today.
Du Plessis has been a big hit in this season's Indian Premier League playing for the Chennai Super Kings.
And Somerset have said they are now considering their options and could take action against West Indian Gayle for failing to honour his contract.
Chief executive Guy Lavender told the county’s website: “We are very disappointed that Chris Gayle will not be joining us for this season’s FLt20, particularly as we have a signed contract and a no objection certificate from the West Indies Cricket Board.
