Somerset reached 126-3 at lunch on the first day of their Championship match with Nottinghamshire at Taunton.
They lost skipper Marcus Trescothick, bowled around his legs, to the very first ball of the day. Darren Pattinson was the delighted bowler and Trescothick had to make the long walk to the pavilion after winning the toss.
The recalled Nick Compton edged to third slip off Pattinson in the 11th over for 17 after adding 44 with Arul Suppiah.
The opening batsman made yet another score of 30 before he went ten overs later, thin-edging Andre Adams to first slip.
Zander de Bruyn was dropped by Ali Brown at third slip off Adams on 15 and by lunch he had reached 44 not out. James Hildreth was unbeaten on 25 at the interval.
