Somerset County round-up
Bottom side Shirehampton slipped to their third Premier Division defeat of the season as they were beaten 4-2 at table-topping Bridgwater Town Reserves.
Shire scored through Rob Sage and Martin Cook, who manager Micky Tanner switched from defence to attack in a bid to get back into the game, but unfortunately that was not enough.
Cutters Friday, who finally got their first victory of the season in midweek with a 3-1 success over Nailsea United, took another point from a 1-1 draw against visiting Bishops Lydeard.
The visitors took a first-half lead when they had the better of the game but Cutters hit back in the second half when they were unlucky to see shots from Bending and Purnell hit the woodwork with the goalkeeper beaten.
Then a shot from Ryan Innoels was brilliantly saved by the keeper. With three minutes left, Scott Saunders' defence-splitting through-ball released Bending to score a deserved equaliser to give them a point.
In Division One, Fry Club's continuing inability to take the chances they create proved costly as they went down 2-0 at top-of-the-table Langford Rovers.
Manager Malcolm Beck said: "Dan Davis and Jason Adams both had chances which unfortunately they didn't take.
"We will have to keep working hard to put away the chances we create to turn things around."
Stockwood Green lost their first game of the season. They went down 3-2 at home to Odd Down Reserves, while second-placed Clevedon United Reserves were 3-0 home winners over pointless bottom-of-the-table Burnham United.
In Division Two East, Dundry Athletic were easy 6-0 home winners over Clutton. Nathan Rendell was on target four times with Pete Bracey and Jordon Lee completing the rout.
"It was a good performance and things are going well now that I have Bray and Jeff Baker helping me out," said manager Kenny Phillips.
