Somerset County preview
Andy Cooper insists Backwell United's poor form has redoubled his determination to deliver success.
Saturday's 6-0 thumping by Cheddar was their third straight defeat but Cooper, whose side face Burnham United tomorrow, stressed: "It was a terrible performance but my long-term goal remains to try and assemble a team capable of challenging for promotion."
Steve Winter is adamant the frustration of failing to snatch top spot back last weekend can galvanise Shirehampton for their away encounter with in-form Cutters Friday. Shire were beaten 2-1 by leaders Frome Reserves and Winter said: "The boys were gutted at missing the chance to return to the top. Cutters will be tough, but it's these games we relish."
Nailsea United hope the enforced break from action will help star striker Stuart Lee regain his form.
"Stu has had a knee problem and our lack of games has hopefully given it a chance to heal," Nailsea boss Chris Adamson said ahead of tomorrow's away game at Taunton Blackbrook.
A full-strength Mangotsfield Reserves go to Odd Down Reserves looking to hit back from their 1-0 home defeat by Bishops Lydeard, while struggling Cleeve West Town, who haven't played a league game since December 20, target vital points at home to Glastonbury Town.
Dave Payne believes his Brislington Reserves side, who are set to hand an outing to fit-again first-team midfielder Mark Chaffey, are better equipped to give leaders St George EIG a run for their money at Ironmould Lane than they were when they lost 4-1 in the corresponding November fixture.
Byron Lismore and Jay Lucas are back to bolster the Brislington ranks.
Nailsea Town face a top-four clash at home to Fry Club boosted by the availability of influential midfielder Dominic Sutherland, while new striker Sam Oatway is poised to make his debut.
Second-placed Fry's go into the contest buoyed by their recent 3-0 away thrashing of Brislington.
Seventh-placed Saltford host Paulton Reserves in the first of a run of important games for Glyn Ashton's men, while Keynsham Reserves have been given a boost before their home match with Peasedown as their former first-team defender Mark Pope has agreed to rejoin. Joe Mitchell returns to duty after a lengthy injury lay-off but striker Ian Weston and defender Adam Kay are doubts.
