New Avon Athletics co-ordinator Tim Snowdon has pronounced the first master-class coaching session a huge success.

A group of 20 local coaches, from experienced to novice standard, plus 12 athletes turned up to the WISE Campus at Filton High School for the sprints and relays session led by Great Britain relay coach Roger Walters.

Snowdon said: "I have had some very nice comments back from coaches who were pleased to not only have someone of the calibre of Roger in the city, but also enjoyed the way he presented his message.

"I was delighted with their attitude and I think it is fair to say that the Avon Athletics Network got off to a flying start."

The session was so popular – and over- subscribed – that Snowdon is planning to stage another master-class with Walters in the new year.

"There are a number of projects in the pipeline," added Snowdon.
