A bright sun and tight pegging brought a low set of weights in the Tobacco Trades National, fished at Furnace Mill Fishery, near Kidderminster.

Bristol teams were well represented with Bristol anglers, Alan Smith, Bob Feltham and John Gingell, finishing second, third and fifth respectively in the individuals.

Meanwhile, Bristol's Imperial-RSJ B Team, comprising Smith, Feltham, Nigel Milkins and Larry Burns, won the Roy Free Cup with 13 points and a combined weight of 95-5-0.

● John Baker, the club treasurer, scraped home by a half-point after clinching overall victory in the last round of the Carps AC Thursday Evening Series, fished at Shangri-La Lake, Bath.

Bob Feltham and Colin Golding finished joint second in both the final round and in the league. The last match of the series brought an inseparable 9-5-0, but it was Feltham who finished second in the league on weight.
