Slow to Speedway
Having read the proposal to site the speedway track at Severnside, I'm afraid I think this is an awful idea.
This area is for industrial use and leisure activities are a no-no. If you are looking for a site, the foreshore adjacent to the park and ride on the Portway is ideal. Rail access, road access and ample parking. This would make money for our cash strapped council, plus the fact it would be far enough away from the houses not to worry them. If they need a grandstand, build it over the railway line and include a platform for the increase in passenger traffic.

The proposal to put the swimming baths at the Brigstowe School site (Portway School) – surely this is wrong. The obvious place is on the site of the Shirehampton swimming baths. This site has easy access to bus services, parking and the site is in the right place. If the school site is the chosen one, it will mean the public will only have access to swim when it doesn't interfere with the school programme, as at Henbury pool. Of course in their wisdom the council may have sold off the old site.
