Full-time: Yeovil Town 2 Oldham Athletic 2. The Terry Skiverton era at Yeovil Town began with two bizarre goals in an entertaining game against Oldham.

Deane Smalley opened the scoring for the visitors before a brace from Gavin Tomlin had Yeovil ahead. Terrell Forbes' unfortunate own goal ensured it was all square at the break.

The new manager made two changes to the team beaten 3-0 at Bristol Rovers with Danny Schofield and Tomlin replacing loan players Aleksander Prijovic and Shaun MacDonald.

But the Glovers fell behind in the 12th minute when a long ball through the middle from Kevin Maher was controlled by Smalley and finished low into the corner.

However, they were 1-0 down for only three minutes, after a simple free-kick from Andy Welsh was swung in from the right side for Tomlin to head into the roof of the net despite keeper Greg Fleming getting a hand to the ball.

And the hosts were ahead on 33 minutes thanks to a terrible mix-up between Reuben Hazell and goalkeeper Fleming.

Hazell inexplicably hit a simple back-pass beyond his keeper, handing Tomlin the chance to walk the ball into an empty net.

Fleming showed safe hands to hold a Lee Peltier free-kick and his side were level moments later.

A long free-kick bounced deep into the Yeovil box and Forbes' attempted back-header looped over Josh Wagenaar and in.

The second half began in quieter fashion with Tomlin having to wait until 60 minutes before he had a chance of his hat-trick. He glanced a near-post header wide from Schofield's cross before beating the ground in frustration.

Smalley could have put the Latics back in front but he skied his shot after a cut-back from Seb Hines on the right.

And Smalley missed an even easier chance on 82 minutes when Chris Taylor jinked to the left by-line and the striker hammered against the underside of the bar and out from 10 yards.

Aaron Brown had the ball in the net for Yeovil late on but he was given offside and had also used his hand to control the ball.
