SHOPKEEPERS in Gloucester Road are planning to fly UK and international flags to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.

Flag It Up will involve a colourful display all along the Gloucester Road "mile" in Bishopston and Horfield.

Gloucester Road Traders' Association believes the two events are an opportunity to celebrate the role of the high street and in particular the unique reputation of Gloucester Road as one of the longest high streets of mainly independent traders anywhere in the world.

Shops, businesses and even residents with premises fronting the road are being invited to take part by flying UK and international flags from their premises from June 5 to July 31.
