Avon Angling's Brian Shanks scraped home by less than 5lb to win the Landsend Fisheries Weekend Open, fished on Sidney's and John's Lakes at Wedmore.

He fished a pellet waggler with an 8mm hookbait at Sidney's Lake 92 and brought 43-8-0 of small carp to the scales. Team-mate Joe Godfrey came second at corner peg 71 on the same lake, where a 6mm soft pellet fished over a 4mm feed tempted a similar 38-7-0.

The heaviest silverfish catch was taken by Dynamite Baits rod Dean Malin.

He poled caster over the same at Sidney's 89 for a 10-12-0 mixed bag of fish.

Silverfish: 1, Dean Malin 10-12-0, peg Sidney's 89.
