With reference to your article, "This name change is politically correct madness", (Western Daily Press, January 31) about renaming Broad Plain Boys' Club, it's pure blackmail on behalf of Bristol City Council.

It's a pity the boys' club didn't go around with the money box and collect enough so as to tell the city council: "We don't want your money."

I am sure they would have got more than enough money in order to keep the name of the club going as it has been for so many years.

There are far more important things that need to be sorted in this city of ours than changing the name of a well-run club.
