A PEDESTRIAN died after being hit by a train on the main line linking Bristol and Wales.

Rush hour and evening services to and from Temple Meads and Parkway stations were delayed by up to an hour after the incident, which happened shortly before 4.30pm yesterday. Some trains were diverted via Gloucester and bus services took passengers from Parkway to Newport after the incident, which happened close to the Welsh side of the tunnel.

British Transport Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
