A remembrance service for Eric Leigh is to be held at Canford Crematorium on Friday, November 20 (11am), followed by a reception at Bristol Saracens' Cribbs Causeway base.

Eric, who died last month in Cambridgeshire aged 96, joined Sarries before the war, serving the club for the best part of 75 years.

The reception is open to anyone who knew Eric.

Terry Bezer, who has just taken over the captaincy of St Brendan's from the injured Luke Hartley, is now sidelined himself until the new year because of a knee problem.

Old Bristolians openside flanker Jon Whiteman fractured his wrist in a hard-fought Gloucester One win at Longlevens.

Chew Valley 2nds remain top of Somerset Three South despite suffering a first defeat of the season, 19-12 away to Chard 3rds.

Mike Kitchin's try, converted by Sam Ryan, kept Chew in contention before Chard broke away to make the score 19-5. But 17-year-old centre Sam Locke marked his debut with a try in the final seconds.

Frampton Cotterell secured an important Gloucester Premier win at Hucclecote thanks to tries from No 8 Dean Morsner, full-back Simon Belsten and locks Nathan Cole and Jon Stewart.

Veteran prop Andy McClelland claimed Frampton 2nds' only try, Tom Bowen Hall converting, in a 47-7 reverse against Dings 3rds.
