Seeing veterans speak up is great
It is very sad that our veterans have been so used to accepting dubious rulings from an undemocratic and archaic Civil Service Committees, that many have just given up asking.
Despite there being several outstanding grievances mainly due to disparity in qualification criteria for Campaign Medals.
But it goes beyond that, even service medals have been completely mishandled.
I think it is refreshing to see an ex-serviceman stand up to this faceless bunch of bureaucrats.
Maybe he can make a difference, he will if we all get behind him, even if he isn't as attractive as Joanna Lumley.

● THE Post can certainly take pride in its lead to fight Readers' Corner and support local campaigns (Wednesday May 13).
It is also important that it continues to voice issues of national concern. While the Post did not run a campaign of rights of Ghurkas wishing for a better life in this country, the publicity through your pages reached Westminster, and added to support which has forced the Government to rethink its policy, which should restore pride and respect to brave Ghurka veterans and indeed ourselves as a nation (Feedback, May 5).
I also noted with interest (local Newspaper Week) that South Gloucestershire is seeking suggestions on how to celebrate the centenary of Page Park (Kingswood) next year.
Perhaps we can hear from Bristol city councillors if there are any planned events to mark this year's centenary of Canford Park in Westbury-on-Trym.
Could it be that they are unaware that this park was first opened to the public in 1909? A double pair of arched gates as a new entrance would, in my opinion, be a fitting tribute to mark this important event, (gold leaf paint please in gates).
The proposed entrance adjacent to the library would not only "open up" this park, but would enhance the view to visitors travelling towards the city, replacing the present hotch potch of plantings, concrete, street furniture, best described as an eyesore.
