Second Bristol City bid for Brazilian is rejected
Barnsley boss Simon Davey has turned down two bids from Bristol City for his Brazilian midfielder Anderson de Silva.
Bristol City remain keen on the former Everton player but may not pursue the move so strongly now fellow midfielder Marvin Elliott has signed a contract that takes him up to 2012.
Barnsley's asking price tops £1 million and Davey said: "Every player has a price, so we'll have to see what happens. I don't want to lose him, Anderson is an integral part of our team.
"Bristol came in with a bid and we rejected it – and then they came in with an improved offer, but that bid was not accepted either."
Meanwhile, the club have sold 10,500 season tickets for the 2009-10 campaign, with sales due to close a week on Tuesday.
Last season City sold 13,663 season cards – a club record – on the back of their play-off final defeat at Wembley.
City's group managing director Doug Harman said: "We've been very encouraged by the take up and response from supporters to our offer of holding season card prices.
"The chairman (Steve Lansdown) has already gone on record to say that we want to reward supporters in these difficult financial times.
"We think we've done all we can to encourage supporters to sign-up for 2009/10, which should be another exciting season in the Coca-Cola Championship.
"Hopefully any supporter who hasn't bought a season card yet will take full advantage of our offer and do so before June 30.
"It's important to stress there will be no further sales of season cards after that time."

“Roversteve - considering a little thing called the "recession" this is a remarkable figure - remind us how many STs the Gash have got?
I see you managed to average just over 7,000 gates last season - the highest you've achieved for years - well done for being so "loyal" and "dedicated" fans - proving year after year you're actually the exact opposite!
We may moan but we turn up in numbers clubs like the Gash can only dream of!”
