SCOUTS in Sea Mills have celebrated 15 years of service from their longest serving leader.

Margaret Churchill, of Coombe Dingle, has been awarded a certificate in recognition of her achievement from Cabot District Deputy Assistant Commissioner David Goodall.

Margaret, 60, who has been a Cub Scout Leader at 126th Sea Mills Scouting Group for 15 years, has been inundated with flowers and cards from her Cubs.

She celebrated her achievement in true scouting style by playing tug-of-war and other party games with the children.

Margaret began her involvement with the youth organisation almost 26 years ago, when she began running jumble sales for the children. Since then, she has progressed from treasurer all the way up to Cub Leader.

Working with the children at the Scout Group, which meets once a week, is a "thoroughly enjoyable" experience she said.

"I love helping the children try new things which they don't get to do at school," she said.

"And it's great helping them work towards all of their different badges. It's a lot of fun.

"It's nice to have been recognised for my work. I've received flowers and cards from some of my cubs which is lovely."

As a Cub Leader, she regularly supervises her youngsters on camping trips and activity weekends and helps them gain their different badges.

Margaret, who also spent 22 years working at Kingsweston Special Needs School, enjoys helping her Cubs so much that she plans to continue as a Cub Leader for a few more years to come.
