Scouts sign up families to be active
A scout group in Congresbury is the first community group to benefit from Go4Life Active Incentive cash.
Go4Life is a North Somerset initiative which aims to encourage inactive adults aged 16 and over to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
It focuses on financially assisting and supporting community groups, and workplaces to take those first steps in promoting an active life.
The 1st Congresbury Scouts have been encouraging parents, grandparents, friends to make a pledge to become more active and join the free Go4Life physical activity information service.
Alex Ballard, group scout leader, said: "Scouting is ideally placed to promote Go4Life because 'outdoors and active' is central to our own message.
"Many of our members have already encouraged their families to take part in the Strawberry Cycle Hunt and had a great day."
As a thank you, Go4Life has supported 1st Congresbury Scouts by donating £1 per sign-up, up to £100.
The aim is that the funding will be spent on something with a physical activity theme.
1st Congresbury Scouts are now looking forward to spending their share of the Go4Life funding on some new sports equipment.
