Scott secures his third win of the season
Scott Chalmers, the Western Cyclocross League leader, secured his third win of the season in round eight of the championship, at Conham River Park, Hanham.
The Science in Sport.com rider was pressured for the first few laps by Simon Burgess (Somer Valley CC), Jeremy Addis (Royal Dean Forest CC) and John Whittington (University of Bath Cycling Club) but gradually pulled away to finish two minutes clear.
Burgess, who had finished second ahead of Chalmers in third spot in the round seven race staged by Chippenham and District Wheelers at Castle Combe Race Circuit, again took second place with Addis in third.
Round nine is being staged by Cheltenham and County CC at Pittville Park, Tommy Taylors Lane, Cheltenham, on Sunday from 10.30am.
