School to host a mini music festival
A MINI music festival is taking place in Backwell later this month at the village junior school.
The event, which will see five live bands take to the stage at Backwell School playing fields, is on June 13.
Included in the line-up are Channel Six, Sugar Snaps, Breeze, The Ambling Band and Mange Tout, providing a variety of music from folk, jazz and R&B to female harmony.
There will also be a beer tent, Pimms pergola and a hog roast, as well as a silent auction for prizes including a cricket bat autographed by international stars, a copy of the new Kasabian album signed by the band, and a week's stay in a designer-built house on the Isle of Skye.
Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £2.50 for children and concessions. A family ticket, priced at £18, is also available and can be bought in advance from the school or on the door on the night.
The evening festival, which starts at 5pm and is being sponsored by Ovation Finance, follows the school's traditional summer fair which this year boasts a Circus Skills Arena and a Go Kart Grand Prix.
Professional musicians Ben Waghorn (saxophone) and Jerry Crozier Cole (guitar) will be playing at lunchtime.
Proceeds from both events will go to school funds.
