Sand sculptors back on beach for town festival
WESTON-super-Mare's successful Sand Sculpture Festival is to make a return to the resort this year.
Despite the wettest summer on record last year, crowds of thousands flocked to see the towering sculptures on the beach crafted by a team of international sand sculptures.

The festival, which celebrates its eighth birthday this year, will be on the theme of Hollywood.
As well as sculptures of film favourites including the likes of Johnny Depp and Captain Jack Sparrow there will be workshops for people to get involved, live demonstrations, school visits and a chance to be pictured with the sand characters.

CBBC's Deadly Art presenter and co-organiser of the project, Nicola Wood, said:"Last summer was a wet one and although the festival is very lucky to have survived, we are not afraid to say that we deserve it.
"Our sculptors are some of the best in world. Who wouldn't want to see their incredible work?"
Co-organiser Alec Messchaert added: "We want to come back with a bang for 2013. We have picked a theme that is all singing and all dancing and we are confident it will offer something for everyone. It is my favourite theme yet."
Last year the festival welcomed around 75,000 visitors.
The festival will open earlier this year on March 29 for Easter Weekend, and will be open daily from 11-5pm. Tickets range from £2-£3.50. For more information visit the website at www.westonsandsculpture.co.uk.
