SS Great Britain to get share of £3.6m arts council funding
THE ss Great Britain is being awarded a share of a £3.6 million funding pot.
The world-renowned attraction is one of ten regional museums and schools partnerships Arts Council England will awarded money to until 2015, in the Museums and Schools Programme.
The ss Great Britain Trust and the Science Museum in London will collaborate to work with pupils moving between primary and secondary schools. Walking workshops onboard ship will be a key feature and resources will include self-led activities and online educational games.
Rhian Tritton, the trust's director of conservation and education, said: "This is a unique and exciting partnership, which aims to help pupils avoid a dip in their performance at school by supporting them during the difficult period of moving from primary to secondary education.
