SITA's plans for new-look Bristol waste plant
Waste company SITA has promised its planned £100 million plant at Avonmouth won't look like your average incinerator.
SITA want to develop a so-called "Energy Recovery Centre" on Severn Road, to process up to 400,000 tonnes of non-recycled waste.

And they say it could have a radical design like one of the company's existing ERC plants, on the Isle of Man.
It would generate enough power for 50,000 homes by burning material that would otherwise go into landfill sites, and could be up and running by 2013.
The company is carrying out a series of public exhibitions to explain its plans this month, and the first took place yesterday at Easter Compton Hall.
SITA UK planning and property manager Gary Phillips said although the proposed Bristol centre would be an incinerator, people had nothing to worry about.
He said: "This would be quite different from the incinerator at Kings Weston lane. It's not just there to burn waste, it's there to have an end product, heat and power."
The exhibitions take place from 4.30pm to 8.30pm. The next is due to be held tonight at Trinity Hall, Pilning; then tomorrow in Avonmouth Community Centre; Severn Beach Village Hall on Friday and in Hallen Village Hall and Recreation Centre on Monday, July 13. There will also be an exhibition in Almondsbury Church Hall this Saturday, from 10.30am to 2pm.
