Gloucester pair Olly Morgan and Mike Tindall have been recalled to the England squad ahead of the Six Nations Championship, which kicks off next month.

Sale winger Mark Cueto, Leicester flanker Lewis Moody and uncapped Northampton full-back or scrum-half Ben Foden have also been drafted into the 32-man squad – but Gloucester duo Olly Barkley and James Simpson-Daniel and Bath pair Michael Lipman and Nick Abendanon drop out.

They are all included in the second-string Saxons squad, which also features Leicester's veteran former Bristol prop Julian White, Bath winger Matt Banahan, Gloucester fly-half Ryan Lamb and Kingsholm prop Nick Wood.

Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan said: "I'm pleased for Mike Tindall, because I think his form has said he should be playing at international level.

"Sometimes at 30 when you drop from the squad, there is no return because people are starting to look at development rather than form. But I am pleased he is back in.

"For Olly Morgan to be back in is slightly different, because it's a new journey for him. He has been in before, but only briefly, and there is also a good opportunity for Luke Narraway to get some games."

Team manager Martin Johnson has had limited room for manoeuvre with his squad selection following last year's new agreement between the Rugby Football Union and the 12 Guinness Premiership clubs.

But after a disastrous autumn period, which saw England lose heavily to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, he was more than happy to recall the experienced Tindall and Cueto.

"Mark had real fitness and injury worries for a long time, but he has got over them and is playing well," said Johnson.

"It is good to see him enjoying himself and scoring tries, and it is the same with Mike Tindall. He is in good form as well. The fact they are very experienced is also a big plus for us."
