Ryan Jordan romped home a comfortable 67-13-0 winner in the Bristol PSV match fished on Match Pool at Acorn Carp Fishery, Kingston Seymour.

He poled the far lakeside margins at 14.5 metres off peg eight with banded pellet and finished more than 50lb ahead of the chasing pack.

He said: "I hooked and netted a carp on my first put-in but it soon became obvious that it was not going to be that easy.

"The carp moved up and down the lake all day without stopping in any one place for more than a few minutes. It was a case of catch what you can, when you can.

"There were four of us catching regularly but the fish varied so much in size that I lost count of what everyone else was holding in their keepnets. I was sure that I had done enough to frame in the top three but there was no way I was going to claim anything until every competitor had been weighed-in."

Steve Burgess, the match organiser, finished in second place at neighbouring peg seven with 44-14-0 of mostly carp.

He poled paste and soft pellet into the far lakeside margins and managed to catch slow but steadily for most of the day.

He said: "The fish were constantly on the move with only the odd one showing any interest in feeding. However, for a short period during the middle hour, a few took an interest in a soft pellet feed and that was when I caught most of my fish."

Mark Britton beat Alan Healey to third place by 2-13-0 with a 40-10-0 catch of mostly carp.

Britton poled a 6mm soft pellet into the far lakeside margins at peg two and caught most of his fish during the last hour, while Healey fished paste down the middle of peg 5 for 37-13-0.

Fifth place went to the consistent Darren North, who caught more fish than anyone and would have won the match had his fish been bigger. He made an early start with soft pellet poled at 13 metres but the bigger fish moved down the lake – never to return – and he weighed-in a 30-13-8 mixed bag.

Result: 1, Ryan Jordan 67-13-0, peg 8; 2, Steve Burgess 44-14-0, peg 7; 3, Mark Britton 40-10-0, peg 2; 4, Alan Healey 37-13-0, peg 5; 5, Darren North 30-13-8. peg10; 6, Derrick Lucas 23-3-0, peg 9.
