Members of South Bristol Sports Centre are running from Bristol to Edinburgh this week, but without leaving the gym.

Gym members will run or walk 400 miles on a treadmill over five days for Cancer Research UK, starting on Monday. The person with the most miles will receive a free personal training session.

Kicking off the run was Craig Scriven, who ran a massive 50 miles.

Becci Coleman, fitness and development manager, said: "We have about 10 official runners who are doing quite a bit and then all other gym members are letting us know what they have run or walked in the gym to clock up those miles. So far we're looking at about £500 raised for Cancer Research UK, which we chose because it's a charity that everyone has had some dealing with at some point during their lives and if we work together we can hopefully make things better for future cancer sufferers."
