Runners needed for Weston's Tough Ten challenge
Hundreds of runners are needed for the annual Tough Ten challenge in Weston-super-Mare.
The Lions Club of Weston is hosting the annual 10-mile multi-terrain race, now in its 18th year, on February 22.
More than 1,100 runners signed up for this year's event and organisers hope to attract more entries for next year.
It is open to runners aged 16 and over with a maximum of 1,300 runners.
A time limit of two hours has been placed on the race to prevent road closures being in place for too long.
The race is designed to be within the capabilities of any normally fit runner or jogger and uses sections of closed tarmac road along the seafront. This continues along the promenade, woodland paths in Worlebury Woods and a little of the beach.
In parts is it flat and fast; in others there are short climbs and long down hill sections.
All funds from this year's event will go to the RNLI.
A one-mile fun run for runners aged five and upwards will also take place on the day at 10.45am on the beach and using parts of the promenade. An adult must accompany youngsters aged between five and 10 and they must officially enter the race and display their number.
Entry fees are £2.50 for children and £3.50 adult with a £1 reduction for adults accompanying children.
For the main race entry fees are £11.50 for affiliated runners and £13.50 for unaffiliated runners with no entries allowed on the day.
