Rory Bremner will provide the entertainment at a charity dinner in Bristol next month.

The impressionist will be the guest of honour at the dinner raising funds for the Bristol-Kenya 2012 Partnership and the Tusk Trust, a charity that supports African conservation, education and community development projects.

The evening will end with an auction, with the proceeds going to support a range of Kenyan charitable causes.

Auction items include a safari holiday in Kenya and a sculpture by renowned animal sculptress and Bremner's wife, Tessa Campbell Fraser.

Event organiser Bob Reeves, director of sport, exercise and health at Bristol University, said: "We are delighted to be hosting the event to help raise much-needed funds to help support the Tusk Trust and the Bristol-Kenya 2012 Partnership, which links the University and the city with Kenya leading up to the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

"Rory is a very active patron of Tusk and this is the first time he has offered to host on the charity's events outside London. It will be a very special event."

The Bristol-Kenya Partnership has been established to support and develop a wide range of activities associated with an agreement between Bristol and the Republic of Kenya, which will lead to the Kenyans using the Bristol University as a training camp prior to the 2012 Olympics.

Other projects include the twinning of 20 Bristol and Kenyan schools, athlete exchanges, together with a range of cultural, commercial and other sporting links.

The dinner will take place in the Great Hall of the Wills Memorial Building on Thursday, December 3.

Tickets are £75 each or £700 for a table of 10 people (price includes wine at table).
