Bath City have welcomed midfielder Scott Rogers back to the club as they look to step up their play-off push.

The former Exeter and Forest Green man has returned from a two-month loan spell at Conference South rivals Newport County.

Rogers' spell away from Twerton Park eased the wage bill and gave him valuable match practice with the Welshmen.

Rogers' return is timely as Mark Badman is unavailable for the next fortnight. More immediately, the Romans must target two home wins in the space of four days.

They welcome play-off rivals Hampton and Richmond to north Somerset tomorrow before a derby with Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday night.

City lost 3-2 at league leaders AFC Wimbledon last Saturday and weren't helped by a debatable penalty on the stroke of half-time.

But manager Adie Britton is keen to put thoughts of that game behind him to concentrate on the visit of Hampton and Richmond.

"We need to get six points from the next three games and if we keep picking up six points out of nine for the rest of the season then we will be in the play-offs," said the Bristolian.

Only goalkeeper Paul Evans, who will see a knee specialist this week, and Badman are missing from Britton's squad.

Meanwhile, Team Bath face a six-pointer when they travel to Maidenhead United.

Tomorrow's hosts occupy the final play-off spot so the Scholars cannot afford to lose for a third game running.

The university-based side looked to have grabbed a point from both of their last two fixtures – against Basingstoke and Bishop's Stortford – only to concede late on and lose.

Centre-half and captain Gary Warren has still not returned after an ankle injury and his presence has been sorely missed.

Matt Lock, normally a right back, has stood in at centre back of late. He too has an ankle worry but should be fit to face Maidenhead.

Weston-super-Mare Andy Gurney will be looking for his side to turn the chances they create into goals in their home clash against mid-table Braintree Town tomorrow.

This comes after the disappointment of a 2-1 home defeat to bottom-of-the-table Bognor Regis in their last game.

"We probably had 80 per cent of the game," Gurney said. "We bombarded their goal in the second half with their keeper pulling off a couple of good saves and we missed a couple of good chances."

Striker Scott Partridge, who missed the Bognor Regis game with a knee injury, has not recovered and is likely to be out for at least another couple of weeks.

Weston are also missing midfielders Ashan Holgate, an ankle injury will rule him out for a few more weeks, and Mark McKeever, who is still troubled by a knee injury which will sideline him for at least two more weeks.
