The Conservative candidate for Kingswood, Mr Skidmore, has misled readers about my MP Roger Berry, in his letter (June 4).

He states that Roger's salary is £77,340. This is not true. Yes, Roger chairs the committee on arms export controls, but takes no payment for this. He only receives an MP's basic salary.

I notice, from the Conservative website, that David Cameron claims £1,462 a month for his Oxfordshire mansion. The multi-millionaire Conservative leader bills the taxpayer £1,081 each month for mortgage interest alone.

Roger claims less than £550 a month. For this, and many other, reasons, he is very good value as our MP.

Gareth Manson, Hanham.

“Seem to recollect that Dawn Primarola said she only claimed a small amount of money, howeverf a friend pointed out a website that shows the true amount claimed by her was in the region of £157k.
Dont believe the hype, he is just as bad as the rest of them.”

So if you want sympathy for Roger Berry then phone the Samaritans.”
