Thanks to digital technology, there now seems to be as much music on offer in cinemas as there is in concert venues.

This week brings a particularly strong crop. Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day is the band's reunion show at London's O2 Arena in 2007 which earned a place in the record books as the most over-subscribed concert in history when 20 million people applied for just 20,000 tickets. You can catch it locally at the Cineworld, Cinema De Lux and both Vue Cinemas on Wed 17. Vue Cribbs Causeway is showing the film on its large Vuextreme screen, and both Vues also have encore screenings on Sunday, October 21. Fellow classic rockers The Rolling Stones' eagerly anticipated new documentary, Crossfire Hurricane, pictured, gets its gala premiere at the London Film Festival on Thursday, October 18. This is being beamed live to cinemas, including the Vue Cribbs Causeway and Cinema De Lux.

If your taste is more of the operatic persuasion, you'll be delighted to know that Metropolitan Opera's seventh season of live HD satellite broadcasts begins on Saturday, October 13. You can catch Donizetti's comic opera L'Elisir d'Amore at the Cinema De Lux.
