Last season's champions of the Bristol and District Billiards League, Rileys Club A, have opened a five-point gap at the top of the table.

They have won six of their eight matches so far this season, triumphing 3-0 this week against last season's runners-up Mizzymead Centre.

They also enjoyed a fine win over previous leaders Pot Black C.

Rileys have played only two players all season. Mahmoud Alzaid has won seven from eight matches, and partner Frank Squires has won six from eight.

Mahmoud was the first player to beat Pot Black B's Naufel Saleem this season. Naufel had a break of 38 but still lost to Mahmoud, who had breaks of 37 and 36 in his 36-point win.
