Crosscourt United closed the gap on Coalpit Heath at the top of the Senior Division thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 home win against Hanham Athletic Reserves at Redcatch Park.

The only goal came midway through the second half, when centre-back Ricky Earrey headed home a corner from Luke Scoulding.

Crosscourt were forced to defend in depth in the face of a late onslaught by the visitors but held out for a valuable three points.

"Ricky has strengthened the team since joining his father Kerry and brother Ryan in the squad and this was the third clean sheet in a row at home, which must be a record for us," said Crosscourt secretary Dave Forse.

Shaftesbury Crusade Reserves won for the first time at the bottom of Division I after scraping home 2-1 against Pucklechurch Reserves.

George Woodward and Dan Young both hit hat-tricks for Hambrook in the 9-0 Division II home romp against Iron Acton, whose first team have resigned from the Senior Division.

Paul Harding, Colin Smythe and Adam Walters also netted for the hosts, who climbed to third in the table on the back of the victory.

Relegation-threatened Chipping Sodbury A slumped to a 3-1 Division III defeat at Shirehampton A, for whom Michael Scrivens (2) and Dan Green were on target.

Fry Club B and Oldland Abbotonians shared four goals in the Division IV basement battle at Somerdale, while John Tucker and Matt Kulbacki replied for Little Thatch in an 8-2 battering by Brislington Cricketers Reserves.
