Almondsbury Town's new manager Richard Thompson is relishing making his mark at Oaklands Park.

The ex-Yate Town supremo has drafted in trusty former assistant Lee Barlass in a "flexible role" as his No 2, while another former Lodge Road stalwart, Paul Chenoweth, is enjoying player-coach status.

Now, hot on the heels of new signings Chris Williams, Nick Dunn, Mike Whittington and David Anyinsah, comes goalkeeper Stuart Jones.

The 32-year-old Bristolian has been recruited as a replacement for Ben John, who could be teaming up with his former Almonds boss Paul Weeks at Cinderford Town.

Jones has had spells with Sheffield Wednesday, Brighton, Doncaster Rovers and Weston-super-Mare, but more recently has been content to keep goal for Suburban League side St Aldhelms.

Winterbourne United manager Stewart Jones has told ace striker Jimmy Potts he will "welcome him back with open arms" if his move to Cadbury Heath doesn't work out.

Jones, meanwhile, is charged with picking his team up from last weekend's 5-0 home thrashing by Purton for tomorrow's home tussle with mid-table Letcombe in Division One West.

New signing Adam Growcott continues between the sticks, while Jones hopes injured trio Tom Blyth, Tom Evans and Mark Nash are available.

Barry Granger's Tytherington Rocks have striker Mark Greenland and right-back Ross Irwin available again, as they prepare to entertain bottom side Launton Sports on a five-game unbeaten run.
