Richard Hill hoping review will spark a Bristol revival
RICHARD Hill has ordered a major rugby review ahead of Bristol's return to their Guinness Premiership campaign next month.
Bristol lost their first five league matches this season – and the last six of 2007-08 – before finally getting off the mark last Friday at home against Toulon at the Memorial Stadium.

But that 39-11 win over the Frenchmen hasn't stopped head coach Hill going back to the drawing board in readiness for the November 16 home clash with Northampton.
He said: "Over the last few weeks, where we have overhauled every single playing aspect, we have looked at the way we have done things.
"We're looking at our scrummage, line-outs, restarts, moves off all those phases, breakdown technique, ball carrying, kick-chase, kick strategy, etc.
"Rugby Union is such a complicated game. You have so many aspects to look at that we have had a thorough overhaul of each aspect.
"I have a huge amount to write up over the next few days based upon these things and also refining certain aspects. It has been a great process. And I hope that when we come through all this, when we come into the next round of Premiership matches, I think we will be in a much better shape."
Hill's main concerns include the scrum, which surprisingly dominated opposition packs last season.
He added: "Parts of our game have been very good but three aspects have let us down.
"One is scrummaging, which is unusual. If you look at the Premiership stats, we have lost the most scrums but we can put that right very quickly.
"Our defence has leaked a lot of tries. We've done that without making the opposition work for their tries.
"We have to make sure we defend well for the first three phases. We tend to lack concentration. Also our kick-chase is not very good."
The Bristol boss sends out his fringe players in tomorrow's EDF Energy Cup second group tie at Llanelli Scarlets (7.05pm). Only wing Lee Robinson remains from the side that started against Toulon.
The other 14 players, plus replacement No 8 Dan Ward-Smith, are rested from the trip to South West Wales but have been given extra training sessions to undertake.
Hill added: "Had we done better in the Premiership then we could have put more emphasis on the European Challenge Cup and EDF Energy Cup.
"With five defeats out of five matches, the necessity was to make sure we are in the best possible shape for the next round of league matches.
"99 per cent of our time has been getting the team ready for November 16. We have to make sure we have our best team on the field. If I had put a number of those players out on Friday then you have to start tapering down training.
"There would be a light team run on Thursday. You cannot do anything with them on Friday because they are playing.
"Having taken that starting XV completely out of the equation, we can work them very hard for five days.
"That starting XV against Toulon won't be far off our line-up for Northampton. There are other players, who are injured, to come into the equation. Two players that come to mind are David Lemi and Luke Arscott."
