Review: Nerina Pallot at St George's. 10/10 by Joe Perkins
AS female singer-songwriters go, Nerina Pallot is truly in a class of her own.
Having released four critically-acclaimed albums, supported names as mainstream as Sheryl Crow and James Blunt, been nominated for both Brit and Ivor Novello awards and penned tunes for Kylie Minogue, it feels like a treat to still be able to see her perform in small, intimate, venues such as St Georges.

Support came from London-based emerging talent Samuel Taylor who offered a selection of songs taken from his recently-released debut EP.
Boasting great fingerpicking technique and a soft-yet-powerful voice, he is definitely a name to watch out for in the coming months.

Pallot then took to the stage and began her 90-minute set with the aptly name It Starts followed by fan-favourite Idaho.
Chatting with the audience between songs and joking about the somewhat downbeat subject matter of her musical catalogue, she took great delight in exhibiting her charming and witty personality throughout the evening.
By not having a band and only accompanying herself on the large house Steinway and acoustic guitar, the emphasis remained on her exceptional voice and fantastic songwriting – both of which are simply untouchable.
Pallot showed herself to be a truly extraordinary talent, putting on a completely faultless show.
Personal highlights included touching renditions of Human and All Bets Are Off, up-tempo bopper Real Late Starter – and a particularly comical anecdote about the physical relationship between her over-excitable pet rabbit and pair of Ugg boots.
The crowd remained subdued but appreciative throughout as Pallot submersed everyone in the rich tapestry of her poetic lyrics. In this day and age, to see a world-class musician for £15 is truly the bargain of the century – especially when the standard of performance is this impeccable.
