Restoration has been a long fight
WHEN my mother died in 1986 she was buried with my father at Arnos Vale. We were shocked to read in The Post what Tony Towner wanted to do. I was lucky to get through to him on the telephone, but he was very angry that people had found out.
After writing to Arthur Usher, my husband and I joined the association. It was a long hard struggle as gradually numbers dropped in the first years. But we met some lovely friends, to mention a few, Joyce Smith and Arthur Usher, Phyllis Brown and Edna Tanner (now deceased). We always looked after the 'As New' stall at the fetes held to help funds.
Age and health prevents us from attending meetings now. The cemetery has improved a lot, but it may take years to get right. Good luck.
