Drugs with the street value of £4,500 have been recovered during raids in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge.

A series of raids were executed on seven consecutive days in the towns following a police investigation and information from the public.

Officers were assisted by specialist support group officers and drug dogs from the mounted and dog units.

As a result, seven people were arrested.

The arrests came following the recovery of heroin, amphetamines, cannabis and several thousand tablets of Class C drugs with an estimated street value of £4,500.

Stolen property and more than £3,000 cash was also recovered, and a child has been taken into police protection following concerns for its welfare.

The raids were carried out after residents raised concerns at their local Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings.
