David Hobbs was the toast of GE Sports in their 1-0 Premier Division victory over Scafftech UK in the Regional Sunday League.

Sports left it late to bag their goal and their first league win and points of what has been a nightmare season – but it was worth the wait.

Hobbs picked up the ball and found himself a bit of space before hammering home from 30 yards.

Sports were indebted to their keeper Richard Guest, who had earlier kept out a Jordan Greenwood penalty to keep his side on level terms.

The only other fixture to beat the arctic conditions was in Division II where BAWA Athletico ensured Double-O-Two's awful season continued.

Athletico ran out 8-1 winners thanks to doubles from Dan Lewis, Pete Gainey and Nick Bowering, and strikes from Cesar Brito and Dan Ogden.

The entire Bristol Sunday League and Wessx Sunday League programmes were wiped out by the bad weather.
