Reduce number of MPs by 50%
I wish to raise the plight of our Honourable Members of Parliament.
With so much of their work transferred to Europe and the loss of Scotland and Wales to the Regional Assemblies, it's a wonder what they find to do all day. In any other job they would be made redundant and sent home.
Is it any wonder that with so much spare time on their hands they put all their efforts into finding ways to fiddle their expenses.
With this government finding every way to ban sport, it's the only pastime left. With the exception of drinking, which for MPs is subsidised, albeit with a health warning.
If you fiddle expenses your employer will sack you and may take you to court, so why should MPs be any different. The trouble is that MPs make laws to control us with a get-out clause to exempt themselves. They nearly succeeded in getting exemption from the Freedom of Information Act and it's only the fact that the government lost the vote that all this wrong-doing has come to light.
So how do we sort out this mess. Dissolve Parliament. Call an election. Reduce MP numbers by 50 per cent. Give those left a pay rise which could then be afforded and drastically curb expenses.
Edward Gardener, BS25.

“Killing animals with other animals. Some people apparently got a lot of enjoyment out of it.
Depends on your definition of sport I suppose.”

“Mr Gardener, what "sport" has this government banned?”
